[night sky observatory]

the wind can be soft and gentle as well as harsh and menacing, yet we scarcely consider an environment totally devoid of wind, completely still. the final portion of the program seeks to explore the sphere in which wind is altogether absent, outer space. the stars and constellations, the moon and its cycles offer the medium of observation for the curious child as well as the old grandfather. by placing a new piece on kill devil hill, one gives honour to the achievements of the wright brothers by looking to the last unconquered frontier; the depths of space.
